It’s Indoor Plant Week!

9/11 is a day that all Americans will remember, but it is an especially significant day for all New Yorkers.  We will always remember those who were lost, those who sacrificed so much to save lives, and those who survived and are still standing beside us.  We’re mourning and grieving, but also celebrating the life and legacy of those lost in the attacks on the Twin Towers on that fateful day in 2001.  We're honoring those who were lost, those who are still with us, and celebrating our great community with memorial services and events.

September 8th is dubbed National Literacy Day thanks to UNESCO.

The aim is to raise awareness and build support for tackling literacy issues in our communities as well as on a global scale.  The holiday was founded by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in 1966.

Access to education and a foundation for literacy are fundamental tools for human development, and thus a human rights issue.  UNESCO aims to shine the spotlight on ways we can improve education for youth as well as adults, and build awareness.
