Today is the first day of fall!

Whether you’re heading out for a PSL, an Apple Crisp Macchiato, or a Caramel Hot Cider, there’s no wrong way to ring in the first day of Fall.  Get on out there and step on every crunchy leaf!  Go pick some pumpkins!  Bust out all the autumnal car decorations and air fresheners.  We’re bringing you some great Autumn events in Long Island, delicious recipes to try at home, and a roundup of beautiful autumn designs for your car’s interior.

Here’s some great local events to get out and celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, but first...coffee!

Stop by one of these fantastic local coffee shops and bakeshops for a great fall treat:

Now Let’s Get Exploring:

Go hiking and collect some autumn leaves at the Wertheim Wildlife Refuge, located on the south shore of Long Island; open from 7AM to 7PM free of charge.  The park has gorgeous river and woodland views and a one-and-a-quarter mile path or a two-mile path on the White Oak trails, and Black Tupelo trail has a 3.3 mile option bordering the east side of Carmans River.

Take the whole family out to enjoy a cool autumnal evening before the nights get shorter!  Come out and enjoy some classic cars and vintage vibes at the “Cruise Night Car Show at the Shoppes.”  You can opt to dine-in or dine out at Ruggero's Family Restaurant until 8PM, or just walk around from 5PM to 9PM admiring the automobile collections.  More info here.

Get in touch with your inner peace and have a gentle start to the Autumn season with Missy at Moon Goddess Studio in Huntington at the Montauk Salt Cave. Class begins at 7PM through 8PM and advance online registration required.

Stop on by Schmitt’s Family Farm until 5PM for all sorts of autumnal fare!  For just $10 per person, you can enjoy a hayride, the outdoor playground, mini golf, and plenty of family photo ops.  Kids under 16 months are free, so bring the little ones!  (The Zoo, corn maze, roasted corn, and concessions are closed during the week but open on weekends.)

A few days later, September 26th, marks the start of Organics Today Farm opening up for Pumpkin Picking and Hay Rides, and today would be a great day to announce your first family harvest day!  Make plans for the weekend to celebrate in style.

And if you prefer to stay at home, you might want to ring in the new year with some great meals and treats at home!
