We’re going to take today as a reminder to slow down, take a deep breath, rest when we need to, and appreciate the little things in life! Three Fun Facts about Sloths

If you love avocados, you have the extinct Giant Ground Sloths to thank! Giant Ground Sloths were one of the only mammals capable of digesting avocado seeds whole, thanks to their special digestive systems. After they were done gorging themselves on the delicious fruit, they would pass the seeds.

Sloths have very poor eyesight thanks to a condition called rod monochromacy; this means they lack cone cells, are color blind, and only have limited vision in very dim to dark lighting. Bright light such as daylight can completely blind these little buddies, which partially accounts for their slow moving habits.

Sloths are related to anteaters and armadillos and are considered part of the Pilosa group of mammals, named for the Latin word for hairy.
