Rumors have long existed that this lake may in fact be bottomless, as the bodies of those who drowned were often not recovered.  Although it’s actually 70 feet down at its deepest, it hasn’t stopped the ominous storytelling.  Stories around the lake include the waters having healing properties, a haunting following the death of a Setauket Native Woman, and a subsequent curse that claims young men as its victim.  Although many people dismiss the curse concept, Paranormal Investigators have found evidence of ghostly spirits. Sometime between the 1940s through the 1960s, reports started manifesting about sightings of a strange man by the children who resided in the Mansion.  Could it be the ghost of Dawson?  Or is it perhaps the spectral remnants of a fallen soldier once buried on the grounds?
