I scream, you scream, we all scream, because July is National Ice Cream Month!
We’re celebrating with a list of local and regional ice creameries to visit in the New York Metropolitan area. Check out our list below or feel free to suggest some of your own fave destinations we might have missed.
Did you know that on average, Americans consume over 20 pounds of Ice cream and frozen desserts every year? In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared that the third Sunday of each July would be National Ice Cream Day, and that every July henceforth would become National Ice Cream Month!
Celebrate by visiting one of these local creameries, or hop in your new Atlantic Hyundai and go for a road trip to some of the best ice cream on the East Coast US.

Make Your Own Ice Cream At Home
-
1 cup of cream or half-and-half
-
2 TBSP of granulated sugar
-
1 tsp of vanilla extract (or extract of your choice)
-
3 cups of ice cubes
-
1/3c. Kosher salt
-
Mix-Ins or Toppings you like
-
In a tightly sealed ziptop bag, pour the half-and-half or cream, sugar, and vanilla extract and your desired mix-ins altogether.
-
Gently press out all of the air, and seal the bag well.
-
In a second slightly larger bag, add the ice and the kosher salt, then place the smaller bag with the cream inside of the ice bag.
-
Shake the bags vigorously for about 10 minutes until your ice cream has thickened up.
-
Scoop right out of the bag, or share with friends by scooping into small bowls and adding toppings of your choice.
